04 — Artist Profile
Michela Milani is an Italian visual artist and industrial designer whose research moves between art, design, and material experimentation, exploring how processes, unexpected transformations, and perception contribute to the emergence of images.
BIOGRAPHY
Her research begins with a question: what can matter reveal when we stop forcing it to conform to our expectations?
From this question, she develops an investigation into the potential of what is usually corrected, discarded, or regarded as an error. Through observation and experimentation, her practice explores how matter, process, and perception contribute to the emergence of images.
FRAME is her principal ongoing research project. Using PMMA as a pictorial medium, she develops a patented casting and layering process in which material and image take shape together. Over time, her investigation has expanded to include Originarie and Nottuari, exploring new relationships between materials, processes, and visual languages.
Her background brings together artistic education, a degree in Industrial Design from Politecnico di Milano, and a three-year specialization in Art Therapy.
